Gifttastic ACC Week in Review
Boston College (4-7, 0-1 ACC):
L vs. Maryland, 88-80
W vs. Philadelphia, 67-50
Everyone says you shouldn’t pay too much attention to college basketball in November and December. And if you’re BC, you’re hoping that that adage holds true. Woof.
Clemson (8-2, 0-0 ACC):
W vs Furman, 71-35
Well, Tigers, that was a heck of a performance. Legitimately impressed by how Clemson is beginning this season. And curious at how Brownell is going to screw it up.
Duke (8-2, 0-0 ACC):
W vs. Gardner Webb, 85-66
Flawless victory. Well, not totally flawless, but 19-point victories are nothing to sneeze at…also? Will the real Rasheed Sulaimon please stand up? Anyway, here’s one of Coach K’s shooting drills.
Florida State (6-3, 0-0 ACC):
FSU didn’t play this week since everyone was busy celebrating their berth in the BCS National Championship.
Georgia Tech (8-3, 0-0 ACC):
W vs Kennesaw State, 74-57
3 wins in a row by an average of 17 points. Here’s to hoping Brian Gregory and the Yellow Jackets can keep it up.
Maryland (7-4, 1-0 ACC):
W @ Boston College, 88-80
W @ Florida Atlantic, 66-62
The Terps started off their ACC farewell tour in nice fashion by beating a woeful BC team. They then followed that up with a close win against an absolutely putrid FAU team. You guys are gross.
Miami (5-5, 0-1 ACC):
Miami didn’t play this week because …well, it doesn’t matter why because we should be thankful. They’re a puddle of fail.
North Carolina (7-2, 0-0 ACC):
W vs Kentucky, 82-77
Who needs PJ Hairston? Or that other guy? UNC looks to be really good.
North Carolina State (7-2, 0-0 ACC):
W vs Detroit, 82-79
An up-and-down State team played one game that symbolizes how this season will go…they were blowing out Detroit and then allowed them right back in it. Less than encouraging win.
Notre Dame (8-3, 0-0 ACC):
L vs North Dakota State, 73-69
W vs Indiana, 79-72
The Irish beat the team they should’ve lost to and lost to the team they should’ve beaten. Basically, I understand nothing.
Pittsburgh (10-0, 0-0 ACC):
W vs Youngstown State, 91-73
One of two undefeated teams in the ACC. And not ranked in the Top 25. They’ll keep winning, though. Exciting!
Syracuse (10-0, 0-0 ACC):
W @ St. John’s, 68-63
A win’s a win, but it wasn’t pretty. But Syracuse remains one of the best teams in the country and the best team in the ACC.
Virginia (7-3, 0-0 ACC):
Virginia didn’t play this week. Which means Tony Bennett didn’t set basketball back another 40 years this week.
Virginia Tech (7-3, 1-0 ACC):
Teams from Virginia obviously take the exam period very seriously. They do not, however, take basketball very seriously.
Wake Forest (8-2, 0-0 ACC):
Bzdelik didn’t coach any basketball games this week. Which is always a good thing. Means he was able to get on the road and do some recruiting.
